About the position:

As Adult Day Program Instructor, you will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by leading structured activities, teaching life skills, and promoting independence in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.

This is a full-time position based in Oroville, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM–4:00 PM. Pay ranges from $17.00–$18.30 per hour, depending on experience.

The role is hands-on and focused on direct support, skill-building, and meaningful engagement in both center-based and community-based settings. You will work closely with participants of varying abilities, ensuring services are person-centered, respectful, and aligned with each individual’s goals and preferences.

What You'll Do:

Program Activities & Engagement

• Lead and facilitate daily activities including arts and crafts, music, games, exercise, cooking, and educational activities

• Plan and support community outings and recreational activities

• Encourage participation, engagement, and social interaction among clients

Life Skills Development

• Teach and reinforce daily living skills such as self-care, hygiene, money management, communication, and problem-solving

• Support individuals in building independence and confidence in everyday tasks

• Adapt instruction to meet varying ability levels and learning styles

Direct Support & Care

• Provide hands-on support to individuals with IDD in a respectful and person-centered manner

• Assist clients as needed with mobility, behavior support, and daily routines

• Promote dignity, choice, and independence in all interactions

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate and timely records of daily activities, attendance, and client progress

• Complete required documentation in accordance with program and regulatory standards

• Communicate client observations and concerns to supervisory staff

Team Collaboration & Training

• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development

• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure consistent and high-quality services

• Follow program guidelines, safety procedures, and behavior support plans

Transportation & Community Support

• Drive Arc vehicles to transport clients to community activities and outings as needed

• Ensure safe transportation practices and supervision at all times

• Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Relevant experience in caregiving, education, or human services preferred

Requirements:

• Must pass a post-offer pre-employment background check, non-arduous physical, drug/TB screen, and driving record check

• Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, including no DUI convictions within the past five (5) years and no more than two (2) points on the driving record

• Ability to work in various environments, including office and community settings

• Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation

• May require occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs), standing, walking, or assisting individuals with mobility needs, if applicable
