General Function Selected candidates will become a Retail Personal Banker I after completing a 4‑8 week onboarding and education program, including rotations in operations and Sales & Service. The program culminates in a certification, allowing candidates to demonstrate the skills needed to perform within the Retail Personal Banker family. The Personal Banker I is a Financial Center position focused on using a consultative sales process to proactively meet the financial needs of customers or prospects. The role emphasizes acquiring new households and deepening existing relationships through multiple activities, including lobby leadership, aisle time, and tele‑consulting. Responsibilities include processing teller transactions and serving as a member of the platform staff. Risk & Customer Experience The candidate is responsible for risk management by exchanging ideas, reporting concerns, and adhering to policies. They must always act for customers and colleagues, ensuring a positive experience while operating within risk appetite. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build comprehensive customer profiles and identify current and future financial needs. Maintain in‑depth knowledge of retail consumer and small business products and recommend appropriate solutions. Use CAMP and other marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments for periodic financial reviews. Focus on cross‑selling to existing customers and engaging in outside sales activities, such as Membership Advantage presentations, business sales calls, and community financial literacy events. Establish close relationships with assigned Business Partners (Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial, and Investment) and refer customers when appropriate for holistic financial solutions. Consistently meet or exceed customer experience and production goals, enhancing revenue growth measured by the Financial Center P&L. Guide CSRs on the sales and referral process. Promote customer satisfaction with a friendly, helpful demeanor and professionalism. Respond confidently to customer questions and resolve issues. Maintain confidentiality and uphold trust, keeping all business confidential. Follow the Bancorp Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and related policies. Adhere to policies while opening/servicing the full range of retail products. Participate in consumer loans and bankcard process, owning sourced loans from application through closing. Assist in opening/closing the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed. Stay current with retail procedures to mitigate fraud and risk. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required College degree or equivalent work experience. Experience in the financial industry preferred. Comfortable with sales activities to acquire new consumer households and small business customers and/or cross‑sell to existing customers. Proficient in advanced math functions for analyzing credit and financial information. Professional representation in appearance and verbal/written communication. Knowledge of retail policies and procedures for sound decision‑making. Requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). Working Conditions Normal office environment. Extended computer screen time. Program requires travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility.
