Nurse Practitioner - Pediatrics (PNP)

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our growing Pediatric Neurology multi‑disciplinary team! Nurse practitioners (NPs) at Cortica are passionate members of the Neurodevelopmental Medicine team that strives to bring exceptional care to children and their families with neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism. The clinical services we provide include: Pediatric Neurology (including metabolism and genetics) Pediatric and Family Nurse Practitioners Nutrition and feeding Speech‑Language Therapy Occupational Therapy (OT) Physical Therapy (PT) Music Therapy Family Counseling Behavior Intervention (ABA) Neuromodulation Therapies What will you do? Complete thorough patient intakes, screenings, and assessments that incorporate the unique characteristics and needs of each patient and family member into the plan of care. Triage referrals for acute needs to other members of the Cortica team. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate a comprehensive plan of care for each patient. Utilize the nursing process, scientific reasoning, and critical problem solving to practice within the scope of responsibilities as defined by the California Board of Nursing, including placing orders and screening tests in accordance with approved protocol(s) and guidelines. Provide appropriate clinical documentation using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for all patient encounters. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and clinical teams. Participate in annual performance reviews, as needed. NPs have multiple roles depending on their NDM knowledge, skills, and experience, offering ample opportunity for growth with the rapid national expansion of our centers: Cortica’s Welcome Visit: NPs get to be the first to welcome new families into our model with a telehealth visit. They share our model, help families access developmental and behavioral services, conduct diagnostic assessments and screenings, and kick off the cascade for downstream therapy and medical service referrals. Opportunities exist for a full‑time telehealth NP role conducting Welcome Visits. Cortica Nurse Education Program: NPs may dedicate part of their clinical time to providing ongoing education to families on topics such as autism labels, sleep, pill‑swallowing, sexuality, navigating the school system, and more. Cortica’s Nutrition Program: NPs may provide nutrition evaluation and dietary support in concert with our speech and occupational therapy team, using the SOS feeding approach. Cortica Medical Management Program: NPs may work with our cognitive and behavioral child neurologists and pediatricians to provide ongoing care for attention, sleep, headaches, challenging behavior, medication management, and medical follow‑ups. You are warm, compassionate, an effective communicator, and an attentive listener who loves interacting with families and patients. You excel at working with an interdisciplinary team to identify complex patient and family needs that drive outcomes. You are knowledgeable regarding diagnoses and therapies for autism, ADHD, anxiety, developmental coordination disorder, speech and language delay, sensory processing disorder, headaches, insomnia, epilepsy (including seizure action plan and safety), and other neurodevelopmental diagnoses. You have at least 12 months of pediatric practice in an outpatient setting (pediatric or family nurse practitioner), preferably in behavioral neurology and/or Neurodevelopmental Medicine and pediatric behavior disorders, including autism. You are proficient in ADIR/ADOS diagnostic evaluation (Gold standard). You possess a telemedicine skillset, including using multiple technologies simultaneously for documentation while connecting with patients (EMR, virtual wait rooms). You hold an active, unencumbered RN and NP license in your practicing state and have board certification (AANP or ANCC) with eligibility for payor credentialing. You are familiar with administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures. You have critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. You have a genuine desire to work with pediatric patients with neurodevelopmental conditions or other special needs. You possess excellent communication skills. You are eager to serve as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team working with children with developmental disabilities and their families or caregivers. Depending on your skill level, relevant experience, education level, and location, you will receive compensation that fits appropriately within the range.
