About the Role:
The Sonographer I (ECHO) plays a critical role in the diagnostic imaging team by performing high-quality ultrasound examinations to assist physicians in diagnosing medical conditions. This entry-level position involves operating ultrasound equipment to capture images of patients' internal organs, tissues, and blood flow, ensuring accuracy and clarity for clinical evaluation. The Sonographer I collaborates closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide timely and precise imaging results that contribute to effective patient care. Additionally, this role requires maintaining patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging process while adhering to established protocols and standards. The ultimate goal is to support the healthcare team in delivering accurate diagnoses and improving patient outcomes through expert sonographic imaging services.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program.
- Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain high standards of accuracy and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a clinical or hospital setting performing ultrasound examinations.
- Specialized training or certification in areas such as abdominal, obstetric, or vascular sonography.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and imaging software.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations on patients according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
- Capture high-quality images and document findings accurately for physician review and diagnosis.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss imaging results and assist in clinical decision-making.
- Maintain detailed patient records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards.
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with advancements in sonography techniques and technology.
