Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

Job Description

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy construction and earth‑moving equipment on job sites, which may include hazardous waste environments. This role requires a current 40‑Hour HAZWOPER certification and involves performing excavation, grading, trenching, material handling, and site preparation activities.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and dump trucks safely and efficiently.
• Perform excavation, grading, trenching, material handling, and site preparation activities.
• Work on projects involving hazardous materials while complying with OSHA, EPA, and site‑specific safety plans.
• Conduct pre‑operation inspections and routine maintenance checks on equipment.
• Identify and report mechanical issues, safety hazards, or environmental concerns.
• Follow all HAZWOPER protocols, including use of PPE, decontamination procedures, and exposure controls.
• Assist with site cleanup, remediation, and waste handling as required.
• Read and interpret site plans, safety documents, and equipment manuals.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, spotters, and crew members.
• Maintain accurate records related to equipment operation and safety compliance.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience operating heavy equipment in construction, industrial, or environmental settings.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and hazardous waste site operations.
• Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and varying weather environments.
• Strong attention to safety, detail, and situational awareness.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Valid 40‑Hour HAZWOPER certification (current and in good standing).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of heavy machinery operation, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and dump trucks.

Work Environment

Work primarily takes place at outdoor and industrial job sites, including hazardous waste locations. Expect exposure to heavy machinery and moving equipment. Projects may require overtime, weekends, or travel depending on project needs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Monterey Park, CA.

The pay range for this position is $58000.00 - $66000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Monterey Park,CA.
