Position Overview

A rapidly growing freight brokerage is seeking an experienced Carrier Sales Representative to join its expanding operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven freight broker/carrier sales professional who understands how to source capacity, build carrier relationships, negotiate rates, and move freight efficiently.

The ideal candidate is a true carrier sales professional who knows how to dial for diesel. You should understand equipment, carrier networks, regional capacity, and how to quickly identify the right carriers for a shipment while maintaining strong margins.

This role offers the opportunity to join a growing organization that has expanded from a small truckload brokerage into a multimodal operation spanning truckload, LTL, bulk/tanker, and upcoming intermodal services.

Key Responsibilities

• Source, qualify, and secure reliable carrier capacity for customer freight.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with trucking companies, owner-operators, and carrier partners.
• Identify carriers based on equipment type, geographic coverage, lanes, and service capabilities.
• Negotiate carrier rates while protecting company margins.
• Efficiently book and cover loads while maintaining service and reliability standards.
• Develop new carrier relationships to expand capacity in key markets.
• Utilize TMS and transportation technology to maintain accurate carrier information and shipment data.
• Analyze carrier and market data to identify capacity opportunities and improve profitability.
• Monitor carrier performance and help identify opportunities for improved carrier relationships and service.
• Communicate effectively with carriers and internal operations teams to resolve issues quickly.
• Maintain accurate documentation and data within the TMS.
• Support growth initiatives across truckload and other transportation modes as the business expands.
• Follow established SOPs and contribute to continuous improvement of carrier sales processes.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have:

• 3+ years of freight brokerage/carrier sales experience.
• Strong dry van truckload experience preferred.
• Proven ability to source and book carrier capacity independently.
• Strong knowledge of trucking equipment, lanes, markets, and carrier networks.
• Experience negotiating rates and protecting margins.
• Ability to quickly establish credibility and rapport with carriers.
• Strong understanding of the carrier sales workflow from load tender through delivery.
• Experience working within a TMS and maintaining accurate carrier data.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Ability to analyze data and use information to make better carrier and capacity decisions.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently without significant oversight or hand-holding.
• A hungry, coachable, and accountable mindset with a willingness to continuously learn and improve.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience across multiple transportation modes are especially attractive, including:

• Dry Van
• Truckload
• LTL
• Reefer
• Flatbed
• Bulk/Tanker
• Intermodal

Bulk/tanker experience is a significant plus, but strong dry van truckload experience is the primary target for this search.

Compensation

Target compensation is approximately $70,000$85,000+, depending on experience and the depth of the candidate's carrier sales background.

Exceptional candidates with specialized experience, particularly in bulk/tanker or multiple modes, may command a higher compensation package.
