About the Organization Our client is a well-established 501(c)(3) charitable foundation based in South Florida, affiliated with a prominent industry trade association. For more than fifteen years, the foundation has provided direct financial support to skilled-trades professionals and their families during life’s most challenging moments. Its work centers on three pillars:

• Cases of Need – Rapid-response financial assistance for workers and families affected by sickness, injury, or loss of life, bridging the gap between a crisis and the arrival of insurance or workers’ compensation benefits.
• Mental Health & Suicide Prevention – Access to mental health services, addiction treatment, and suicide prevention resources for every approved beneficiary, delivered through established treatment partnerships.
• National Impact – Nationwide disaster relief for its industry’s workforce, including administration of charitable donor-advisedfunds on behalf of partner organizations.

The foundation holds the highest seal of transparency from a leading national nonprofit rating organization, and the overwhelming majority of every dollar donated goes directly to mission delivery.

Position Overview

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Director of Development is a key member of the leadership team and an active participant in strategic decisions affecting the foundation. In partnership with the President CEO, the Director is responsible for all fundraising and development activity: building the foundation’s visibility and financial resources, forging new individual and corporate philanthropic relationships, and designing a comprehensive development plan that sustains and expands the foundation’s impact. The Director will have primary responsibility for establishing the infrastructure needed to grow the foundation’s endowment from nearly $2 million today to $5 million within four years through major gifts, federal and state grants, special events, and corporate and foundation support. The Director will expand and diversify the donor base and pipeline, secure funding for new initiatives, and work closely with the board of trustees as its members take on a more active fundraising role. Over time, the Director is expected to systematically strengthen the foundation’s overall fundraising capacity and grow total funds raised year over year.

This is a full-time, in-office position based at the foundation’s headquarters in Broward County, Florida.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the President & CEO and board members on all major fundraising initiatives, and collaborate on the foundation’s overall financial strategy.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy spanning individual, corporate, foundation, and government funding sources.
• Own the development and execution of all grant and funding proposals, writing and archiving each with a long-term relationship-management approach.
• Research funding sources and trends to position the foundation ahead of major shifts in the philanthropic landscape.
• Maintain donor records and provide statistical analysis and regular progress reporting to the board and senior leadership.
• Design and implement a stewardship program that deepens ties with donors at every level.
• Identify, develop, and mentor development staff and volunteers as the function grows.

Qualifications

• Ten or more years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization, with demonstrated success in a development function managing and cultivating multiple donor sources.
• A track record of expanding existing donor relationships and securing major gifts, grants, and corporate or foundation support over time.
• Ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build durable, long-term relationships.
• Skill in constructing, articulating, and executing an annual strategic development plan.
• Experience with donor CRM/database platforms and comfort using data to drive fundraising decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational and time-management skills, and exceptional attention to detail.
• A flexible, resourceful, self-directed style – equally effective working independently and collaborating with colleagues, board members, and external partners at all levels of seniority.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required; genuine passion for mission-driven work is essential.
