Job Title

RN II – PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) with Mandatory Call

Location

San Luis Obispo, CA

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift | 3x12-hour shifts, rotating days of the week with 0700 or 0800 start times; rotational call required including overnight and weekend call shifts

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to surgical patients during the immediate preoperative and postoperative periods
• Receive report from anesthesiologist, surgeon, and/or circulating RN regarding surgical intervention and incorporate findings into the nursing plan of care
• Ensure control of pain, bleeding, and nausea, as well as proper patient positioning, airway management, and stabilization of vital signs
• Respond immediately to emergency situations as they arise in the PACU setting
• Participate in rotational mandatory call, including overnight and weekend shifts per the 6-week schedule

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice
• Associate Degree in Nursing (A.S.) or equivalent required
• Minimum of 1 year of PACU or critical care experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from an approved vendor
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required within 1 year of hire or transfer into the department

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
• Minimum of 2 years of PACU-specific experience
• Trauma nursing certification or background
