Job Summary Foundation Relations Associate, Boston University (BUMC) – Advancement. Works within the RFP Team supporting the development and management of research funding opportunities for BU faculty. Location and Compensation Boston, MA, United States – Full‑Time/Regular. Salary Grade 47: $55,000–$65,000. Responsibilities Strategic (15%) Support the RFP Team leader in developing, implementing, and evaluating operational strategy for the team and assisting in progress reporting. Research and Information Management (60%) Collect, summarize, and assist frontline fundraisers in distributing RFPs to faculty; track uptake. Compile monthly listings of cancer‑related research funding round‑ups. Create customized roadmaps of funding opportunities for approximately 30 early‑career faculty per year. Manage constituent relationship system reporting and record maintenance in ADV's CRM (Blackbaud Enterprise) including entering plans, opportunities, contact reports, and other info. Develop listings of funders supporting specific research and programmatic activities. Collaborate with fundraisers to create and maintain the proposal library and other fundraising resources. Contribute to the maintenance and updating of the FR website. Automate or semi‑automate tasks, especially RFP management, using AI. Meetings and Event Management (15%) Coordinate and attend weekly RFP Team meetings, monthly meetings with Research Development, and biweekly Medical Campus development team meetings. Assist with scheduling meetings of RFP team members with faculty and funders; occasionally attend. Collaborate on planning and execution of Red Team Reviews, coordinate reviewers, and process payments. Help prepare slide presentations on FR mission and activities, and briefing materials for faculty and academic leadership. Funding‑Related Communications (10%) Liaise with proposal management offices (e.g., Sponsored Programs, Proposal Development). Assist faculty in preparing proposals, letters of inquiry, and other application components. Draft brief project descriptions, introductory emails to prospective funders, and occasional miscellaneous communications. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. 1–3 years of relevant work experience. Advanced oral and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Intellectual curiosity and a “can‑do” mindset with strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Capacity to multitask and juggle priorities. Responsible handling of confidential material and professional interaction with a wide spectrum of individuals. Experience or readiness to develop AI use in fundraising.
