Responsibilities Nuclear Med Tech Job Summary Patient Care: Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals orally, by injection, or inhalation. Start patient IVs. Explain imaging procedures to patients, answer their questions, and ensure their comfort. Position patients appropriately for scanning. Technical Duties: Conduct NM studies such as Nuclear Stress Tests, Bone Scans, HIDA Scans, Lung Scans, Thyroid Scans, Liver Scans, and Brain Scans. Prepare facilities according to procedural requirements and calibrate equipment as needed. Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals used, received, and disposed of, using computer systems and following physician's prescriptions. Perform computer processing and imaging enhancement. Provide images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation. Quality Control: Monitor the department's daily, monthly, and quarterly quality control (QC) under the guidelines of the NRC. Ensure compliance with departmental protocols and safety standards. Utilize a comprehensive Electronic Medical Record System (EPIC) for documentation and communication. Qualifications Nuclear Med Tech Qualifications Education and Certification: Must be registered in Nuclear Medicine through NMTCB or ARRT. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required. Experience: Training and experience in conducting various NM studies, including Nuclear Stress Tests, Bone Scans, HIDA Scans, Lung Scans, Thyroid Scans, Liver Scans, and Brain Scans. Skills: Strong technical skills in preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals and operating NM equipment. Excellent patient care skills, including the ability to explain procedures and ensure patient comfort. Proficiency in computer processing and imaging enhancement.
