Construction Safety Manager

Trident Consulting is seeking a Construction and Safety Manager for one of our clients in San Jose, CA. Job Title Construction and Safety Manager Compensation $88 - $92/hr. on W2 Location San Jose, CA - on-site Eligibility Local candidates only Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Construction & Safety Manager to oversee construction management, safety compliance, and quality assurance for capital projects involving retrofit/expansion of existing facilities, semiconductor R&D cleanroom installations, and equipment installations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing commercial construction projects within California and ensuring zero safety incidents across all project activities. Key Responsibilities Oversee construction sites, general contractors, subcontractors, and workers to ensure high standards of safety and quality. Partner with Safety and Quality teams to resolve safety and quality concerns effectively. Coordinate with contractors, EHS teams, and project stakeholders for timely incident and near-miss reporting. Participate in investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification. Manage daily construction activities and contractor coordination to maintain project efficiency. Ensure all work complies with approved project specifications, procedures, and standards. Identify deviations from approved plans and implement corrective actions. Coordinate Change Management activities, including contractor estimate reviews and change-order negotiations. Monitor and manage contractor construction schedules in alignment with project management objectives. Review weekly/monthly project reports covering contract status, progress, costs, and changes. Conduct and coordinate safety meetings, quality reviews, and project status updates. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution. Support permitting activities, engineer-of-record coordination, and required building inspections. Conduct quality assurance inspections during and after project completion. Support contractor onboarding and site compliance processes. Drive project safety programs including KPI tracking, safety metrics, and construction reporting. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Skills Strong knowledge of construction technology, safety protocols, and quality management principles. Experience in commercial building construction and semiconductor cleanroom environments. Knowledge of chemical production process installations. Ability to perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies. Strong leadership, conflict management, and critical-thinking skills. Excellent communication, presentation, and coordination abilities. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced construction environment. Strong conceptual planning and project execution capabilities. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience). 10+ years of construction management experience. Must have California construction project experience. Experience with commercial building construction, cleanroom construction, chemical production process installations, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. OSHA 30 Certification (mandatory). Experience interpreting ASME standards, ACI standards, building construction standards, owner standards & procedures. Experience conducting accident investigations and reporting. First Aid & CPR Certification required.
