Director of Education

Achievement Centers

All Achievement Centers for Children & Families (ACCF) employees are required to uphold the mission and vision of ACCF and to foster an environment that promotes the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of each child enrolled.

The Director of Education is a key member of ACCF’s leadership team and is responsible for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of all Out-of-School Time (OST) educational programs. This role oversees curriculum development, program quality, assessment systems, data-driven decision-making, and staff development across three OST sites. The Director ensures all programming meets organizational, contractual, and accreditation standards.

Schedule : Full Time

Reports To : Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Duties & Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Strategy

• Provide strategic direction for OST programs to ensure developmentally appropriate, engaging, and responsive learning experiences.

• Oversee academic enrichment initiatives, including the EmpowerED tutoring program and supplemental learning services.

• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to expand and enhance program offerings.

• Ensure alignment with organizational priorities, funder expectations, and contractual requirements.

• Use data and staff feedback to guide program improvements and monitor progress toward goals.

Staff Development & Supervision

• Supervise, coach, and support program staff to ensure high-quality instructional delivery.

• Provide training on data tools, outcome measurement, instructional strategies, and classroom management.

• Lead workshops, in-service training, and information-sharing sessions to build staff capacity and support continuous quality improvement.

Curriculum & Quality Improvement

• Develop or source high-quality curriculum materials across literacy, STEM, arts, SEL, and project-based learning.

• Oversee curriculum implementation, materials, scheduling, and use of educational technology.

• Conduct regular site visits to evaluate program delivery, strengthen instructional consistency, and provide technical assistance.

• Maintain and update logic models, performance indicators, and reporting tools that support program evaluation.

• Lead data collection, analysis, and reporting to assess program effectiveness and inform decision-making.

• Review IEP and 504 Plans for appropriate implementation and assist families in navigating processes.

Community Engagement & Collaboration

• Build and maintain relationships with school district leaders, principals, and community partners.

• Represent ACCF and OST programs in community meetings and collaborative initiatives.

• Work with principals to align goals, services, and site-specific strategies to ensure integrated support for youth.

• Partner with Finance and Development on budgets, grants, donor engagement, and reporting needs.

• Participate in cross-departmental planning and organizational leadership initiatives.

High Program Quality : Curriculum is implemented consistently and meets organizational, contractual, and accreditation standards.

Effective Staff Performance : Staff demonstrates strong instructional skills, data literacy, and positive youth development practices.

Data-Driven Program Adjustments : Decisions and resource allocations are informed by reliable, timely data.

Strong Partnerships : School and community relationships support coordinated, impactful programming across sites.

Compliance & Reporting Excellence : All funder, regulatory, and contractual reporting requirements are fulfilled accurately and on time.

 Other Duties as Assigned

 

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, or similar field, from an accredited college or university required, Master’s Degree preferred

• Valid Florida Educator Certification

• Experience designing curriculum preferred 

• 5 or more years’ direct service

Knowledge & Values

• Understanding of child development and OST best practices

• Comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge of leading research methodologies and practices, program development, data analysis, organizational structure, budgeting and administrative operations 

• Strong commitment to ameliorating the social challenges faced by low-income children and families through high-quality programming and support

• Commitment to respectful, positive behavior toward, and interactions with, children and families, colleagues, volunteers and visitors is a must

• High level of proficiency in research methods, statistics and navigating sources for publicly available data

• Ability to analyze data and effectively compile and write outcome reports

• Ability to train, coach and mentor others

• Ability to manage time effectively, coordinate several projects at once, and remain flexible regarding work assignments, promptly responding to changing demands and priorities. 

Essential Physical Abilities

• Must be able to utilize a computer for extended periods of time

• Must be able to endure repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movement while operating office equipment/typing

• Requires clarity of vision at close distances while operating a computer

Additional Employment Information

• Pre-employment training required

• Pre-employment and ongoing background checks required

• Pre-employment and random drug testing & alcohol screening

• 90-day initial probation period 

• Completion of 40 hr. DCF training

• Ability to ravel between three OST sites
