Diesel Fleet Mechanic

Job Description

As a Diesel Truck Mechanic, you will diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and after-treatment issues on diesel-powered equipment. This includes heavy-duty trucks, material handlers, loaders, forklifts, and specialty recycling and industrial equipment. You will perform advanced engine, transmission, suspension, braking, electrical, and emissions-system repairs with a high level of diagnostic accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair DPF, DEF, and SCR systems.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and software to identify root causes and prevent repeat failures.
• Oversee and perform preventive maintenance on fleet and equipment to reduce unplanned downtime.
• Identify trends in equipment failures and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
• Support maintenance planning and scheduling to ensure operational continuity.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of maintenance documentation and work orders.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of experience as a diesel technician, preferably in fleet, heavy equipment, or industrial environments.
• Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, emissions systems, hydraulics, electrical diagnostics, and air brake systems.
• Proven ability to work independently and make sound repair decisions.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL strongly preferred or willingness to obtain.

Work Environment

Work in outdoor and industrial shop environments with exposure to noise, grease, dust, and varying temperatures. The work schedule is 1st shift from 6:30 am to 3:30 pm.

This is a Permanent position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
