CHOC Specialists Physician - Clinical Genetics And Medical Biochemical Genetics

CHOC Specialists is a private pediatric subspecialty group with 26 pediatric subspecialties. The group practices at Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) which is a premier healthcare system based in Orange County, Calif. CHOC is exclusively committed to the health and well-being of children through clinical expertise, advocacy, outreach and research that brings advanced treatment to pediatric patients.

CHOC Children's Specialists is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) physician to join the Division of Metabolic Disorders. The physician will diagnose, treat, and provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients with suspected or confirmed rare disease.

This position offers the opportunity to lead complex diagnostic evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, nurses, social workers, dietitians, genetic counselors, and other allied health professionals.

Key responsibilities include performing diagnostic work-ups for pediatric patients with suspected rare disease, developing comprehensive treatment plans, assessing patient and family psychosocial needs, reviewing laboratory results, providing inpatient consultative care, supervising team members, and supporting division growth through program development, education, and clinical research activities.

Academic and research opportunities include participating in medical student and residency education, delivering resident teaching conferences, maintaining an academic appointment with the UCI Pediatric Program, and initiating and participating in clinical research.

Candidate qualifications include a current California medical license, board certification in Clinical Genetics and Medical Biochemical Genetics, and current DEA registration. Core skills include expertise in rare disease diagnosis and management, and strong collaboration, communication, and prioritization skills.
