Registered Nurse (RN) on the Labor & Delivery UnitFairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Labor & Delivery Unit at the St. John's Hospital located in Maplewood, MN. Our 184 bed facility offers a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.About This Unit:Our unit offers 29 LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery & post-partum) beds plus 2 triage rooms. We have 1 water birth room and 2 OR suites. We are pleased to provide single room care, which provides patients with excellent care all within the same room throughout their stay. We average 200+ deliveries a month and manage many outpatients daily for antenatal testing. Daily census is 18 mom and baby couplets. Our NICU is newly remodeled and have expanded our care to higher risk patients (28 weeks gestational age).Schedule: This position is a 0.6 FTE (48 hours per two weeks) on the Night shift, 12 hour shifts, every third weekend rotation.Job Expectations:The RN serves as the key leader of the interdependent team and is responsible to achieve patient and unit outcomes by coordinating the care for a group of patients. This includes: comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on the needs' assessment; establishing the plan of care; monitoring the progress; and modification of the plan of care as needed.Demonstrates dedication to principles of the patient care model (Professional Partnership Model) and achieving the HealthEast nursing vision and strategyApplies the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to coordinate outcome focused patient care. Throughout this process, also understands and incorporates holistic nursing theory based on Watson's Theory of Caring aligning with the practice standards of the American Holistic Nurses' Association whenever holistic therapy is offeredCommunicates effectively with patient/family, physicians, the interdependent team, and other disciplines regarding the plan of careAssesses and documents learning needs of the patient and family.
