Outside Sales Hunter - Technical Services (219362)

Full-time

Diverse Tech Services

Outside Sales Hunter | B2B IT Managed Services | Central Indiana

Diverse Tech Services (DTS) is an Indiana-based, certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) that helps organizations connect, protect, and advance through managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud solutions, practical AI and automation, and technology advisory services. We serve businesses across manufacturing, logistics, professional services, healthcare, housing, construction, and other industries. Our focus is to build trusted relationships and deliver technology that helps clients operate securely, work more effectively, and move their businesses forward.

DTS is seeking a proactive outside sales hunter who enjoys meeting people, opening doors, and becoming a trusted presence in the local business community. This person will generate new business through in-person prospecting, local business visits, networking, referrals, and consistent follow-up.

The representative will introduce DTS to business owners and decisionmakers, learn about their needs, and earn opportunities for deeper conversations about our capabilities and offers. They will also extend DTS’s community presence through professional social media engagement and photos and short videos that show our team participating in the communities we serve.

The primary responsibility is to win new business.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Prospecting & Territory Development

  • Build and work a targeted list of local businesses aligned with DTS’s ideal customer profile.
  • Initiate contact through in-person visits, cold calls, email, social outreach, introductions, and referrals.
  • Plan regular field activity rather than relying primarily on inbound leads. Identify decision makers, learn how prospects currently handle technology, and secure clear next steps for qualified opportunities.

Community Presence & Relationship Building

  • Represent DTS at chamber events, business associations, industry gatherings, community initiatives, and other relevant local events.
  • Become a familiar, credible presence through consistent participation and genuine interest in local businesses.
  • Develop relationships with business owners, professional advisors, and referral partners.
  • Evaluate events for their relevance to target customers, and turn introductions into follow-up conversations, meetings, and sales opportunities.

Consultative Selling & Opportunity Ownership

  • Explain DTS’s services and approved offers in clear business terms, connecting them to reliability, security, efficiency, and growth.
  • Build credibility through thoughtful questions, relevant examples, approved proof points, and reliable follow-through; not technical jargon or unsupported promises.
  • Qualify needs, decision makers, fit, and timing.
  • Own opportunities from introduction through proposal, negotiation, and close, bringing in DTS leadership and technical specialists for discovery, solution design, and complex sales.
  • Coordinate a clear handoff to service delivery after the sale.

Social Media & Community Visibility

  • Use X, LinkedIn, and Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram) to connect with prospects, engage with local organizations, and share relevant DTS messages.
  • Capture clear, professional smartphone photos and short videos of DTS at events, community activities, and approved business engagements.
  • Draft concise captions, provide content promptly to the appropriate team, and publish or share through authorized channels in line with brand guidelines.
  • Obtain appropriate permissions and approvals and protect client information and privacy.
  • The role is supported by DTS’s existing marketing program and contributes field content and social engagement that extend its reach into the local business community.

Follow-Through, CRM & Team Coordination

  • Maintain accurate contacts, activity, lead sources, opportunities, and next steps in HubSpot.
  • Follow up promptly after visits, events, introductions, and inquiries.
  • Maintain a realistic pipeline and communicate progress, obstacles, and support needs. Share prospect feedback, recurring objections, and local market observations with DTS leadership to improve messaging and offers.
  • Work within approved pricing, event budgets, and company policies.

How Success Will Be Measured

  • Success will be measured primarily by meetings set with qualified decision makers, new customers acquired, new gross profit contribution, and the quality and progression of self-generated sales opportunities.
  • Supporting measures include qualified discovery meetings with decision makers, referral opportunities, timely follow-up, and accurate CRM records.
  • Community participation and useful social content matter when they strengthen relationships and support sales, not simply as counts of events attended, photos posted, or social impressions.
  • Specific sales goals and activity expectations will be established with the manager and documented in the sales plan.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Two or more years of successful B2B outside sales, territory development, or field-based business development preferred. Strong candidates with transferable experience and demonstrated new-business results will also be considered.
  • A demonstrated ability to create opportunities through personal prospecting, networking, and referrals, not solely through assigned accounts or inbound leads.
  • Demonstrable, established relationships within the Central Indiana business community; such as connections with business owners, decision makers, local organizations, and referral partners are a strong plus.
  • Strong listening, relationship-building, and communication skills; confidence introducing yourself to unfamiliar businesses and engaging owners and decision makers.
  • Comfort using X, LinkedIn, and Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram) professionally, taking clear smartphone photos or short videos, and writing concise, business-appropriate captions.
  • Strong organization, CRM discipline, resilience, and follow-through, with the ability to plan a productive territory schedule and work independently.
  • Curiosity about technology and the ability to learn and explain business value.
  • IT services experience is helpful but not required.
  • A college degree is not required; demonstrated performance and relevant experience are valued.

Travel & Work Expectations

  • This is a field-oriented role requiring regular in-person visits and participation in local business events throughout Central Indiana.
  • Occasional early-morning or evening events may be required.
  • The representative must be able to travel reliably and meet applicable company driving requirements when driving for business.
  • Essential functions may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
