Associate Process Development Engineer / Scientist

Cambridge, MA | 100% Onsite | 12-Month Contract

Join a highly innovative pilot plant team focused on developing and scaling next-generation bioprocessing technologies. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across both upstream cell culture and downstream purification processes while supporting technology development, process scale-up, and large-scale biologics manufacturing.

Schedule

• Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM onsite
• Flexible start time between 8:00-9:00 AM
• Mandatory daily stand-up meeting at 9:05 AM
• Occasional weekend and evening support required
  • Approximately 5-7 weekend days per year (typically 1-3 hours)
  • Approximately 1-4 evenings per year as needed for process schedules

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering strongly preferred
• Bioengineering, Physics, or related engineering/science disciplines also considered
• 1-5 years of relevant experience including internships, co-ops, research, or industry experience
• Strong understanding of:
  • pH, pressure, flow, and mass balances
  • Basic cell metabolism and bioprocess fundamentals
  • Process troubleshooting and problem solving
• Comfortable working in a wet lab, pilot plant, or manufacturing environment
• Interest in hands-on process development, equipment, and operations

Responsibilities

• Support both cell culture and purification process development activities
• Execute large-scale pilot plant operations and experiments
• Troubleshoot novel bioprocesses and manufacturing equipment
• Generate data and materials supporting biologics development programs
• Assist with technology transfer and process scale-up efforts
• Contribute to development of future manufacturing platforms and technologies
• Work collaboratively with scientists and engineers across multiple disciplines
• Apply creative problem-solving to address technical challenges and improve processes

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Cambridge, MA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $34.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
