Aircraft Performance EngineerAs an Aircraft Performance Engineer within the GE Aerospace Defense & Systems business, you will help engine designers to create competitive architectures by working at the intersection of aircraft design and engine design. By modeling both existing platforms and new platforms, you will become a strategic partner for our customers by ensuring that propulsion investment remains focused on providing transformational aircraft capability. Your work will directly influence product strategy, engine designs and sales campaigns. You will have opportunity to model rotorcraft, fixed-wing, subsonic, and supersonic aircraft across a wide range of mission capabilities.Roles and ResponsibilitiesAircraft Performance Engineer responsibilities include:Define aircraft performance studies to assess mission capability of new aircraft and engine conceptsCreate current and future aircraft models with GE / partner engines and competitor enginesLead and execute mission analysis (fuel burn, payload, and range) studies for current and future aircraft with GE / partner engines and competitor enginesProvide key results / conclusions to engineering, engine product line, and marketing / sales peers & leadershipSupport GE product strategy / design development through assessment of potential future aircraft/engine performance capabilityCollaborate with senior leadership to shape strategySupport GE / airframer engine technical requirements development (thrust, offtakes, constraints, etc...)Support GE / partner engine design & optimization through aircraft/engine performance assessmentsProvide aircraft / engine integration and optimization supportInteract effectively with airframer contacts regarding performance and integrationParticipate on cross functional industry teamsDevelop tools and processes to execute aircraft and integration analysisRequired QualificationsBachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited University or College.At least 5 years of experience in an aerospace or mechanical engineering position.This role requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.Desired CharacteristicsMaster of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited University or CollegeExcited about the intersection of aircraft design and engine designInterested in both rotorcraft and fixed-wing aircraft design5+ years of rotorcraft and/or fixed-wing aircraft design experienceAble to work collaboratively in both a dynamic team environment and independentlyStrong interpersonal, leadership, & influencing skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsSuperior networking skillsCurrent US security clearanceExperience with aircraft design and sizing, and with mission analysis in either fixed-wing or rotorcraft.This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
