The War Memorial & Performing Arts Center is hiring part-time/as-needed security professionals. Must be available evenings and weekends. Shifts will be available seven days a week. Available positions may be ideal for security professionals interested in working part-time on an as-needed basis at a second job. Civil Service Title and Class: BUILDING AND GROUNDS PATROL OFFICER, CODE: 8207 Overtime eligibility: Covered (Non-Z) - Nonexempt Under general supervision, patrols assigned buildings and grounds on foot; protects public property against damage, theft and trespassing; enforces security regulations governing the access to and use of public facilities; and performs related duties as required. Requires responsibility for: following established procedures regarding the enforcement of security regulations and the apprehension of persons violating the access and use of public facilities; preparing reports on patrol activities; making contact with the general public in connection with enforcement of rules and regulations.

EXAMPLES OF SOME BUT NOT ALL DUTIES :

Monitors access to buildings and events. Questions persons as necessary seeking entry to public buildings; enforces security regulations. Inspects buildings to assure that they are property secured; checks buildings and equipment to see that fire hazards are not present; checks and secures rest rooms at night and unlocks for daytime use. When necessary, and acting as a special officer, apprehends persons engaged in acts of vandalism and theft and turns them over to police authorities or reports such action immediately to the Police Department. Patrols and guards grounds, buildings; prevents theft, damage or misuse of city property; protects items on public display; prevents loitering. Required to wear a uniform; may operate radio transmitting and receiving equipment. How to qualify

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Training and Experience: Requires completion of high school, supplemented by one year of experience as a special police officer, security guard or other position involving the active safeguarding of life and property; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Requires knowledge of: Public buildings and locations operated by various city departments; departmental regulations governing use of city facilities. Requires ability to: Carry out written and oral instructions; act quickly in emergencies, prepare simple operational reports. Requires: the physical agility and stamina necessary to enforce security regulations and apprehend and hold persons involved in acts of vandalism or seeking illegal entry. License: Requires possession of a valid California State Motor Vehicle Operator's License; eligibility for a certificate as a special police officer. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience working Security in a Performing Arts Space Experience utilizing the Evolv or similar Patron Screening System Requires the ability to be calm, friendly, and helpful while also having the fortitude to enforce security regulations. Experience utilizing CCTV or similar systems Experience performing cursory searches and patron screening Work Day, Swing, or Late Shift, but primary shifts available will be swing Work 5 days with 8-hour shifts Workdays will include Saturday and/or Sunday Verification of Education and Experience: Falsifying one’s education, training, or work experience or attempted deception on the application may result in disqualification for this and future job opportunities with the City and County of San Francisco.
