Utility Technician

OVERVIEW The Utility Technician, under the direction of the Service Center Operations Manager, will perform tasks and duties to assist in all operational areas. The role includes urethane, paint, sandblast, facilities, and assembly tasks. You will ensure that day‑to‑day duties are carried out efficiently to achieve on‑time delivery and meet the demands of the Service Center. You will conduct work activities in a professional manner that positively reflects the image of KSB GIW, Inc., its Health and Safety Policies, and conforms to current Health and Safety legislation. Department: Florida Service. Reports to: Service Center Operations Manager. Location: Mulberry, FL. Shift: 1st. FLSA Status: Hourly. RESPONSIBILITIES Executes all work in accordance with KSB GIW Inc. policies and procedures. Ensures all work is carried out in a clean and safe environment as per current Health and Safety legislation. Provides support throughout the Florida Service Center based on business needs to locate and retrieve parts for urethane, paint, sandblast and assembly. Accurately measures various chemicals for different processes, including paint and urethane. Prepares products using measurement equipment such as viscosity cups, thickness gauges, gloss gauges, and curative ratios, applying proper chemistry mix ratios. Accurately selects the appropriate paint or urethane for the assigned task to maintain compliance with KSB GIW, Inc. procedures. Locates, retrieves and prepares industrial rotating equipment components for assigned tasks following the appropriate processes. Uses suitable techniques and tools to apply primers, pre‑finishes, and finishing coats onto surfaces of pump/gearbox assemblies, avoiding damage to components. Examines completed components by visual inspection to ensure conformance with KSB GIW Inc. requirements. Prepares completed pump/gearbox assemblies and components for the shipping department by fitting data tags, warning tags, identification tags, and applying appropriate corrosion‑protective coatings. Maintains required inventory of supplies for the paint department. Ensures housekeeping in the work areas during the shift. Monitors equipment condition and maintenance status, ensuring proper operation. Assists and trains fellow employees in daily functions as required. Ensures all quality standards are maintained and adhered to. Ensures safe and correct lifting of parts, complying with Health and Safety/Environmental legislation and KSB GIW, Inc. Health and Safety Policy. Carries out other tasks that may be occasionally delegated. QUALIFICATIONS A minimum of 3 years' experience in an industrial coating role (experience with industrial rotating equipment components is a plus). General mechanical skills required. Ability to work overtime on short notice as required. Proficiency with various types of painting equipment, hand and power tools. Ability to select and mix chemicals, including paint and urethane, to required mix ratios. Ability to differentiate between colors. Wearing appropriate personnel protective equipment for paint, sandblasting, and urethane. Ability to use and read various types of precision measuring equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical and safety data sheets and work procedures. Operates forklifts and cranes as needed. Willingness to pursue further education and training as needed. Good judgment and decision‑making skills. Promotion of safety and housekeeping at all times. Adherence to company guidelines, rules, and policies regarding attendance, punctuality, and safety. Performance at a high standard in each area of responsibility. Attention to detail. Familiarity with painting techniques and processes. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Capacity to work under pressure. Strategic problem‑solving and sound decision making. Assists in implementation of Service Center goals. Provides recommendations to supervisors and managers for improvements. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to lifting up to 70 lbs., squatting, pulling, kneeling, pushing, and bending.
