Scrub Technologist

Certified surgical technologist needed. Under the direction of the registered nurse, the surgical technologist assists in the delivery of patient care as a member of the surgical team and assumes appropriate responsibility for the delivery of that care before, during, and after surgery. Participates and implements age-specific care and interaction. Employee has attended departmental orientation and annual in-service education for age-specific training and implements what was learned in the work area. Employee maintains current competencies and certifications. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical errors. Ensures correct site procedure, correct counts, fire safety checks, and that all equipment and supplies are available and ready for patient procedures. Provides a sterile atmosphere before and during all surgical procedures. Instruments and supplies are opened following established procedures to maintain a sterile field. A sterile field is set up and maintained before and during the procedure. The scrub remains aware of themselves and staff in the operating room suite and how they impact the sterile environment. Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment before, during, and after all procedures. Performs accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts. Operating rooms are cleaned according to established procedures. Performs safe passing of instruments and sharps to and from the surgeon and field, minimizing potential for incidents of injury or exposure.
