Salary/Pay Plans The salary listed above is Step 1 in a structured pay plan. At 6 months of employment with the District, the salary will increase to Step 2: $93,567.24. At 18 months, the salary will increase to Step 3: $99,589.62. There are 9 total steps for TAM 14 of the pay plan (view full pay plan). These increases are based on service time in the job classification and require a 'Meets Standard' performance rating. Promotional - Introduction This examination is open only to current District employees who meet the promotional requirements. No other applications will be considered. Applications will be accepted only during the designated filing period for this examination. The opening and closing dates of the filing period are listed in this announcement. Anticipation of Eligibility: An applicant who can demonstrate the likelihood of having the required year(s) of service and civil service status with the District in one of the required job classifications by the anticipation date may be admitted to the examination process. Candidates so admitted, who are successful in the examination process, may not be appointed until evidence is provided that these requirements were fulfilled by the anticipation date. Employees may not hold civil service status in more than one classification. Therefore, achievement of civil service status in the classification that is the subject of this announcement will result in the loss of eligibility for promotional examinations resulting from the possession of civil service status in any former classification. Veterans' Preference: Veterans' Preference points will be added, in accordance with the District statute, to the scores of those candidates who attain a passing score in all phases of the examination. Probationary Period: The probationary period for this classification is one year (250 days worked). Promotional - Examination Duties: Under direction, performs work in the analysis, preparation and administration of the annual budget and in the conduct of organization, staffing and methods studies. Promotional Requirements: Possession of a bachelor's degree in business or public administration or a field involving organization and methods work and/or budget analysis, preparation and administration. One year of service with the District as a Senior Administrative Specialist, Legal Assistant, Investigator, Accounting Associate, Secretary, Administrative Assistant, or Accounting Clerk III; or two years of such service as an Administrative Specialist. Civil service status in one of the foregoing classifications. Examination: The examination will consist of a written test weighted 90%, an efficiency rating weighted 5% and a seniority rating weighted 5%. The minimum passing score on the written test will be 70% unless determined otherwise by the Director of Human Resources. Candidates must achieve a passing score on each test to have their names placed on the eligible list. The written test will assess candidates' knowledge, skill and ability in areas such as problem‑solving analysis; data management (including automated systems and software, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); planning and organizing; interpreting written materials; business mathematics; management and organizational concepts; budget and fiscal concepts; and written and interpersonal communication. WRITTEN TEST: The written test will be administered on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences, 3857 W 111th St., Chicago, IL 60655. The use of books, study guides, cell phones, tablets, smartwatches, laptops or other aids during the test is prohibited. Promotional - Appointments Appointments will be made from an eligible list with three categories: A (Exceptionally Well Qualified), B (Well Qualified) and C (Qualified). Candidates in the highest category will be given first consideration for appointment. This examination is also being given on an Original Entrance basis. In instances where both Original Entrance and Promotional eligible lists result from an examination process, it is the District's practice to appoint only from the Promotional eligible list until all names from that list have been considered.
