Sanitation Technician Department: Sanitation Status: Non-exempt Employee Classification: Regular Full-time Reports To: Quality Systems Manager Supervisory Responsibilities: None Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00pm to 4:30am Job Summary Responsible for sanitizing equipment, production tools and the facility environment in both the Apple and Formulated Plants to ensure best food production safety practices. Essential Functions Wears and maintains proper personal protection equipment while performing sanitation duties. Perform sanitation of production equipment and tools following strict standard operating procedures. Responsible for sanitation of the production environment. Responsible for sanitation of the exterior environment. Complete sanitation checklists and other records. Perform Master Sanitation Schedule tasks. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Working Conditions/Physical Factors Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. Worker may be exposed to a loud working environment. Worker may be exposed to hazards in the work place such as proximity to equipment conducting extreme heat, moving parts, and electrical current. Must be able to work in environment containing allergens (nuts, milk, wheat, etc.). Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. Frequently required to use hands and fingers. Frequently required to talk or hear. Frequently required to taste and smell. Frequently required to lift/push/pull/carry weight up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include: close vision, distance vision, and color vision. Exposure to moving mechanical parts. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
