About the Position

Job Title: RN II - Neuro Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Level 1 Trauma experience Description: New requirements include consideration of Level 2 Trauma experience for candidates with 18 or more months of experience. First-time travelers are welcome. A guaranteed offer will be extended with 7 days of PTO or less; holiday PTO must be approved by the unit manager. Candidates must have Level 1 Trauma experience. A 50-mile radius rule applies; local rates are not available. Medical solutions pre-screens will be conducted, and if clinical recommends, candidates will be sent for approval to offer without a second interview. Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance. Travel teams must have their own vehicles. Candidates must have natural hair color and no facial piercings. Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing. A pass/fail exam will occur on the first day of orientation. All RNs are expected to complete skills assessments for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. This applies to all nurses except those in specific units where different expectations are in place. The hospital expects every nurse to be competent in maintaining a sterile field. If a candidate indicates lack of competency in these areas, they may not be a good fit. Additional educational content will cover lifts, restraints, and wound care. Candidates must be able to titrate drips, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin. The unit has a total of 32 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. Central monitoring is provided and candidates must be able to interpret EKGs. Ventilator experience is not required. Clientists or intensivists are not in-house. An IV team is available for difficult intravenous accesses. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Common diagnoses include trached patients, CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, psychiatric issues, and brain tumors. Additional medications that may require titration include Heparin, Amiodarone, and Cardizem. The average length of stay is 4-5 days in a fast-paced and high-turnaround unit. Bedside report is customary. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. A charting system is in place for documentation. Shifts run from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Floating may be required to different units as needed. Weekend requirements include 4 total weekend shifts over a 4-week period. Holidays will be allocated based on unit coverage. Scrub colors are steel gray. The unit operates under strong teamwork principles and emphasizes high-quality patient care.
