Phlebotomist II

Pay Range: $19.41hr - $24.41hr


Job Overview:


The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the organization to patients seeking routine health checks or insights into life-defining health decisions. The candidate draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. The candidate maintains direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence, accuracy, and sensitivity to confidential patient information. The successful candidate may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as business needs dictate.


Responsibilities:


Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time.


Maintain a safe and professional environment.


Perform with confidence both the forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.


Perform verification of patient demographic information and initials, including patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.


Maintain required records and documentation.


Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public in general.

• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Committed to all policies and procedures, including the company dress code, employee health and safety, and guiding principles.
• Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record.
• Travel and flexible hours required to work across multiple locations and cover at patient service center or in-office phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Demonstrated customer focus with the ability to communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors, and patients.
• Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
• Floaters travel between multiple sites, are expected to be on time at whatever site they are covering for that day, and are eligible to submit mileage for expense reimbursement.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical training, such as medical assistant or paramedic training, is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred, and required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience:

• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience is required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• 2 years of experience in a patient service center environment is preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment is strongly preferred.
• Keyboard and data entry experience.
