Registered Nurse (RN) - CVICU

Unit Profile

• Location: Gainesville, FL
• Unit: CVICU
• Number of Beds: 24
• Patient Ratios: To be determined
• Unit Staffing: Primary RN model with Unit Clerk and occasional tech support
• Type of Equipment: Alaris pumps, Level 1 Rapid Transfusion equipment
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: 36 hours/week, every other weekend or three weekend shifts/month
• Floating Policy: May float to critical care as needed

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, specifically in the cardiovascular intensive care unit.
• Administer vasoactive infusions and manage arterial and central lines.
• Oversee ventilator management for patients requiring respiratory support.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality patient care.
• Participate in the placement of chest tubes, central lines, and participate in procedures such as bronchoscopy and tracheostomy placement.

Qualifications

• Required Skills: Critical care competency, experience with vasoactive infusions, arterial lines, invasive central lines, and ventilator management.
• Preferred Experience: Background in cardiothoracic surgery and cardiology.

Additional Information

This unit is an ECMO center and currently managing multiple patients on ECMO support, including a high surgical volume for Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgeries. There is also a program for high-risk PCI cardiology and management of cardiogenic shock.

Dress Code

Royal blue scrubs are required.
