General Responsibilities Summary

Provide business office clerical assistance for the Human Resources Department by performing the following duties.

Essential Functions

Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position. Processes/Maintains Records: utilizes computer programs designed to keep employee and other department records; coordinates with and assists other department users as necessary; scans employment and personnel documentation into system; enters data into computer database. Serves as backup to Human Resources Generalist: answers multi-line telephone; greets persons entering department, assisting or directing to appropriate person. Administration duties: processes ID badges for new, promoted, and transferred employees; provides clerical support to department personnel as needed; opens and distributes departmental mail; performs or participates in special assignments under the guidance of department personnel.

The employee plans and carries out the successive steps and handles problems and deviations in the work assignment in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training, or accepted practices in the occupation. Completed work is usually evaluated for technical soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements. The methods used in arriving at the end results are not usually reviewed in detail. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None COMPLEXITY: The work consists of duties that involve related steps, processes, or methods; the decision regarding what needs to be done involves various choices requiring the employee to recognize the existence of and differences among a few easily recognizable situations; actions to be taken or responses to be made differ in such things as the source of information, the kind of transactions or entries, or other differences of a factual nature. GUIDELINES: A number of specific guidelines are available; judgment is used in locating and selecting the most appropriate guidelines; minor deviations can be made in specific cases; significant deviations are referred to the supervisor.
