POSITION TITLE: Behavioral Health Team Lead REPORTS TO: Program Manager, Rachel’s Women’s Center & Rachel’s Night Shelter FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt TIME COMMITMENT: Full-time, 40 hours a week; Tuesday – Saturday with some flexibility required SALARY: $33.75-$36 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Behavioral Health Team Lead supports the Program Manager by closely monitoring services for RWC participants who are receiving behavioral health services. This includes providing consultation and problem-solving guidance for CWC II team members and helping them identify the appropriate level of care and for clients based on their unique needs. This team member is instrumental in ensuring that all services are provided from an integrated perspective considering participants’ substance use, mental health, and trauma histories and infuses a trauma-informed, safety-focused, recovery-oriented culture throughout the program.AGENCY CULTURE:

Greets participants entering RWC, prioritizes their immediate needs and guides them to appropriate services. Identifies participants’ needs and prioritizes available behavioral health resources daily; recognizes and responds to urgent situations. Meets with participants to identify and address their behavioral health concerns, completes screening forms, and develop safety plans. Supports participants with complex needs in setting and achieving short and medium-term goals, helping to resolve and overcome barriers encountered. Performs follow-up screenings. Connects uninsured participants with Medi-Cal or other health insurance to increase access to medical care; advocates with medical insurance plans enabling participants to get the care they need. Reconnects participants with their established service providers when those relationships exist. Facilitates recovery and relapse prevention groups, Seeking Safety, and implements other evidence-based services. Plans and presents educational groups on substance use, developing safety-focused life skills, and other topics related to the challenges facing participants. Provides conflict resolution/crisis intervention as needed. Assists behavioral health team members with prioritizing their daily activities and ensures follow-up services are provided for established participants Consults with BH team members to support them in connecting participants with the appropriate level of care based on their individual needs Assists with facilitating bi-weekly participant review meetings. Shares recovery-related knowledge and resources with co-workers, expanding their perspective and ability to respond to participants’ needs; provides training for co-workers on common behavioral health conditions. Reinforces a ‘recovery culture’ throughout the RWC community. Provides guidance in unusual situations and during emergencies. Serves as the primary contact for onsite providers from other agencies including Jane Westin. Coordinates and advocates with outside agencies to ensure participants’ needs are being met. This includes following up with hospitals discharging directly to the program. Provides program oversight and supervises staff and volunteers when the Manager is unavailable. Refers and advocates for participants to establish relationships with primary/preventive care providers and to obtain specialized care as needed. Builds and maintain productive working relationships with other behavioral health service providers including substance use treatment and detox providers, outpatient clinics and Areta Crowell. Is familiar with eligibility criteria for behavioral health and primary care services; identifies the best options based on each participant’s individual needs. Identifies common challenges facing participants and recommends modifications to existing internal systems to improve responsiveness to participants’ needs. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Master’s Degree in a related field or bachelor’s degree or equivalent life/work experience. Minimum two years’ experience with homeless services and/or co-occurring disorders is required. Candidates with lived experience and/or in women’s services are encouraged to apply. Experience with trauma-informed approaches to service delivery, motivational interviewing, stages of change model, and ASAM criteria Must be able to pass a background check and pass a TB test Must have strong computer skills and the ability to become proficient with database software. Ability to read, interpret and apply documents such as policies, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups. Ability to multi-task and remain calm and patient with participants and co-workers. Ability to work effectively with others as part of a team as well as independently. Bi-lingual Spanish preferred but not required.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
Valid California Driver’s License Current automobile insurance Physical Requirements: Requires the ability to sit up to 3-7 hours per day with occasional walking, standing, bending, squatting, pulling, and pushing. Must be able to work comfortably on a desktop computer. Requires the ability to work at a computer for up to 8 hours a day.
