Position Overview:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit (PIMCU) will take on a pivotal role within the team, ensuring the provision of safe and high-quality clinical care. This position involves collaboration with physicians, pediatric trainees, and nursing staff to enhance patient care outcomes.
Primary Duties:
- Provide comprehensive clinical care to infants, children, and adolescents facing acute or chronic medical issues that necessitate intensive nursing and medical support outside of the ICU.
- Work closely with the supervising physician to perform detailed patient evaluations, gather medical histories, conduct physical exams, and identify developmental and health issues.
- Engage actively in medical rounds within the PIMCU, contributing to the presentation, formulation, and execution of evidence-based treatment strategies.
- Participate in quality improvement projects and research initiatives as opportunities arise.
- Thrive in a dynamic inpatient setting that requires collaboration with various consulting teams and interdisciplinary colleagues.

Work Schedule: This role involves 12-hour inpatient shifts totaling 36 hours per week, with a rotation of up to 50% between day and night shifts, and working every third weekend. Holiday coverage will be based on service requirements.
Essential Qualifications:
Education:
- Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies.
Experience:
- At least 2 years of inpatient pediatric experience is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked with higher acuity or complex patients.
- Preferred: 1+ year of experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
- New graduate nurse practitioners with recent pediatric inpatient RN experience (ideally 2 years) in a similar patient demographic may also be considered.
Licensure and Certifications:
- A valid Massachusetts NP license (preferred Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, but Family Nurse Practitioners with pediatric experience will be considered) or PA license is required.
- BLS certification is mandatory; PALS certification is highly preferred.
Incentives: A sign-on bonus of $5,000 is available for new APP hires who have not been employed by our organization in the past two years.
The salary range posted reflects our organization’s reasonable and good-faith expectations at the time of this announcement. The final base pay offer will be influenced by various factors including skills, experience, education, and certifications.
