Hatch is seeking a Senior Electrical Field Engineer to join our electrical team in Houston, TX . The Field Engineer will provide technical engineering support to Hatch’s on‑site construction management and supervision team to ensure that construction work complies with the engineering design, including specifications, codes and standards. The Field Engineer’s responsibilities also include assessing potential field problems and developing solutions as well as assisting with supervision of works contractors and Hatch field employees. Responsibilities Assist with technical bid analysis and recommendations as required Verify site data and conditions Coordinate local permitting technical requirements Manage and resolve cross‑discipline clashes or conflicts when discovered in engineering deliverables (drawings and specifications) Assist with the Field Engineering section of the Construction Execution Plan As applicable, assist with constructability input and on‑site monitoring of design, work scope, construction sequence, impacts to estimating and scheduling Review contractor CWP submittals including ITPs and Method Statements Provide technical assistance to QA/QC Review and approve QA test reports and documentation where required Provide technical assistance to Construction Supervision Review and verification of contractor’s monthly progress reports Manage field information requests and site design change procedures (RFI, FCR, FCN, ECN, SI) Develop, check, and distribute specifications for onsite purchases where required, such as temporary works or site generated purchases Review and monitor contractor pricing and assist the Contracts Administrator in the review and settlement of change orders and claims Review contractor supplied deliverables including as‑built documentation Coordinate third‑party inspections in conjunction with consultants and other authorities Generate and/or check field sketches or red‑line engineering deliverables Manage, control and maintain onsite drawings, files and registers Review contract documents for the particular area of responsibility and identify conflicts and recommend solutions Verify that construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instructions as well as applicable regulatory requirements Perform technical review at substantial and final completions Project Development Support Develop a thorough understanding of the project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule Prepare a list of engineering deliverables and time‑based functions to facilitate the planning and control of the engineering budget Maintain the project scope of work documentation and revisions as required during the design evolution Review and execute the electrical and layout design criteria documents Review electrical technical deliverables (specifications, datasheets, drawings, etc.) Assist in the preparation and development of project specific procedures Define the system requirements to achieve the project results and monitor effectiveness Represent the electrical practice in project engineering coordination meetings Ensure coordination, between the electrical team and other disciplines, of all activities being performed as the design evolves Ensure that quality audits of engineering work are carried out in accordance with project procedures and the quality assurance plan Promote and maintain the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of electrical engineering work Ensure that all work designed, manufactured and supplied in the electrical engineering discipline complies with the relevant sections of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) Participation in the compilation of the client Project Safety Management Plan with specific reference to switching, isolation and lockout procedures Qualifications and Experience Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited university Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience within an EPCM, heavy industrial, power generation, and/or transmission & distribution or water/wastewater industry preferred Understands the design and field execution processes of large scale EPCM projects Strong knowledge of construction means and methods including labor, material, equipment, cost and schedule requirements Strong deliverable focus and ability to plan the work High degree of understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies related to the discipline Strong understanding of procurement, contracting and commissioning methodologies Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards (NEC, NFPA and IEEE standards) Knowledge of electrical calculations (short circuit, load flow, protective device coordination, arc flash and harmonics) Knowledge of specification of large motor/generator sets and associated equipment, including high‑voltage switchgear, transformers, starters and related protection systems Knowledge of electrical design tools / software such as ETAP, SKM, or Easy Power. SPEL experience is a plus Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to convey project technical information to project managers, clients and peers Demonstrated organizational skills, ability to multi‑task, prioritize, take direction, and provide direction to others ensuring the quality of deliverables Strong computer knowledge required Excellent safety awareness Willingness to be part of a global engineering company and to collaborate with teams in other offices around the world Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions Don't meet every single requirement?
