Physical Therapist / Full-Time

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), a leading academic health center dedicated to excellence in health sciences education, biomedical research, and comprehensive patient care, is seeking a Full-Time Physical Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. As a Physical Therapist at MUSC, you will provide evidence-based, patient-centered rehabilitation services to a diverse population across the continuum of care, which may include acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient settings. You will perform comprehensive evaluations, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and use a variety of therapeutic interventions to improve mobility, function, and quality of life for patients with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and medically complex conditions. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, occupational and speech therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, high-quality care. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting detailed patient assessments, interpreting medical histories, imaging, and test results, and establishing measurable functional goals in partnership with patients and their families. You will select and apply appropriate therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, neuromuscular re-education, gait and balance training, and modalities as clinically indicated. You will provide clear education and instruction on home exercise programs, injury prevention, mobility strategies, and safe use of assistive devices, empowering patients to actively participate in their recovery. You will maintain accurate and timely records to support communication with the care team, demonstrate medical necessity, and reflect patient progress toward functional goals. You will also participate in interdisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and family meetings as needed to advocate for appropriate therapy services and discharge planning. This full-time position requires strong clinical reasoning, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a dynamic caseload while maintaining a high level of professionalism and compassion. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment that may include weekend or holiday rotations depending on patient care needs.
