Phlebotomist

Location: Boone, NC | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, 8am-5pm M-F | Compensation: Not specified Overview A healthcare services provider is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for a projected 3 months contract assignment with strong potential for permanent placement. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection and handling for patient care, particularly within geriatric populations and challenging draw situations. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and record maintenance and decontamination data Collect and store specimens according to established procedures Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine, fecal) to patients Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy Package specimens for transport, following required temperature and container protocols to maintain specimen integrity Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to respond to inquiries Required qualifications Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Minimum 2 years of experience Experience with geriatrics and hard sticks Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School diploma or equivalent, or Phlebotomy Certification Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Why this role This is a 3 months contract opportunity with potential for permanent placement, offering benefits and a defined schedule of 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday. #J-18808-Ljbffr
