Summary:

The Banquet Server ensures the Hotel’s high service standards are reached and exceeded throughout all aspects of the guests’ event experience. This guest-facing role is key for establishing meaningful relationships with guests by using a personalized approach and technical expertise to create the ultimate dining/event experience and is key to making our internal and external events a success.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Responsible for serving all food and beverage functions according to the standards set forth by the B.E.O and the Maybourne Beverly Hills;
2. Accommodate any guests’ special requests involving dietary restrictions, drink preferences, timing requirements and even special occasions;
3. Offer pre-determined menu selections to each table and maintain knowledge of each selection’s, origin, taste, and preparation method;
4. Communicate guest orders including any special needs or requests to the Banquet Manager or kitchen;
5. Check completed kitchen orders with the guest’s original order;
6. Transport items to the guest table in a timely manner to ensure proper food quality;
7. Prevent and correct imperfections and blemishes found throughout work space;
8. Assist in set-up of linen, china, glass, silver, and accent pieces for each function according to the banquet event order;
9. Anticipate guest needs, ascertain satisfaction, and respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests;
10. Ensure breakdown, clean-up and set-up of tables, buffets, and food stations.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum 2 years of banquet server or related experience.
2. Experience providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment demonstrating patience and a friendly, professional demeanor.
3. A service-oriented personality; possessing a pleasant and caring manner with everyone; warm, friendly and outgoing without being overbearing.
4. Exceptional organization and time management; punctual and reliable.
5. Ability to carry and balance a tray.
6. Display knowledge of wines, spirits and mixed drinks.
7. A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure and collaborate with colleagues; a team player.
8. Willing to work flexible work schedules that include nights, weekends and holidays
9. Able to perform high-quality work while unsupervised with strong attention to detail.
10. Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
11. Ability to speak, read, write and understand English, the primary language used in the workplace.
12. Experience in a luxury environment is a plus.

Physical Requirements: 

• Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, use hand, finger and wrist dexterity. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility (including standing and walking) for up to 7 hours in length.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
