About the job The Data Engineer for the Talon Ark Program is responsible for maintaining and designing new features for the data pipeline. The end‑to‑end pipeline moves data from our analyst to our data scientist on the program. This position maintains collection of data from various sources, presents data to the analyst, gathers and curates inputs from the analyst, and produces the vehicle through which the data scientist can use the data created. This role requires a high level of problem‑solving skills and the ability to research using vast amounts of resources to arrive at a solution. The position works closely with the analyst and data scientist to create a viable solution for the customer, primarily serving the analyst and data scientist, while ensuring high‑quality data is a key factor in program success. Key Responsibilities Collect data for analysis Filter data prior to showing it to analyst based on the needs of models Provide analyst with a platform to make annotations to data Collect and curate annotations from analyst Maintain database where annotations and related metadata are stored Provide and maintain data scientist’s access to the database for the purpose of creating datasets About you Python experience with Pandas, NumPy, PyTorch, Ultralytics Docker knowledge Proficiency with Python data manipulation packages (Pandas, NumPy, PyTorch, Dask) Experience using APIs (both documented and undocumented) Understanding of relational database design and maintenance Knowledge of software design patterns and their implementations Ability to conduct independent research and implement new solutions Preferred Skills Experience with Python big‑data manipulation libraries (e.g., PyArrow) Experience with Python distributed processing libraries (e.g., Ray) Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous development (CI/CD) Experience scaling pipeline architecture Benefits Salary Range: $125,000 - $170,000 + 25% SEP Grey Matters Defense Solutions, LLC offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term and long‑term disability, and voluntary benefits such as accident, hospital indemnity, and wellness benefits. 25% employer contribution to SEP IRA, distributed monthly Individual Benefit Account: 25% of salary to pay for medical insurance premiums and funded time off Employee assistance program Employee discount Health savings account Referral program All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
