POSITION: Full-Time Underwriter
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Under limited supervision, assists members with financial needs by providing a careful analysis of loans accepted for processing by the Credit Union. The purpose is to make sound and consistent loan decisions, to control delinquency and loan loss, and to match member needs to the appropriate MOCU loan product. Ensures loans meet the guidelines established by MOCU as well as meeting federal and state regulations.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Strong analytical, organization, attention to detail and decision-making skills. Lending knowledge and ability to follow policies and guidelines using sound judgement when making recommendations. Comfortable auditing, researching and making corrections as needed. Knowledgeable with credit reports and debt to income ratios. Good at multi-tasking in a fast paced environment while maintaining excellent teamwork and team dynamics. This position requires the ability to understand and retain complex information about the credit union's products and services and the competence to recommend credit application decisions in the process of building member relationships. Must be PC-proficient in a Windows environment including keyboard competence.
Preferred Skills: 2 years of lending experience.
STARTING SALARY: Based on experience.

PROPOSED SCHEDULE: The work schedule is typically 8:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Speaking on the telephone approximately 20% percent of workday. May need to shovel snow occasionally outside the office to clear sidewalks, etc. Continuous sitting, standing, talking, and listening for extended periods of time, use of hands in repetitive tasks such as typing and writing, speaking, and hearing for interaction with members and coworkers, clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for processing of member transactions and computer usage, and memory demands in recalling Credit Union policies, services, and state and federal regulations. Occasional lifting up to 35 pounds to move supplies or office equipment, bending, squatting, or kneeling to reach supplies on ground level, reaching above shoulder level to reach supplies overhead.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employees work in an office environment with average noise levels impacted by computers, printers, scanners, phones, and other surrounding conversations. The credit union is located in Central Oregon and weather during the winter may impact travel. Seasonal fires may impact air quality.
