Locum Physician Opportunity in Oncology

Join our dynamic oncology team in Greenville, SC as a locum physician! Are you a dedicated oncology physician seeking an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in patient care? We are currently seeking a highly skilled locum physician to provide exceptional oncology services at a premier cancer center in Greenville, SC. What you'll do:

• Provide specialized outpatient and inpatient oncology care within a busy, reputable cancer center.
• Manage both benign hematology (65%) and malignant oncology (35%) cases for adult and geriatric patients.
• Participate actively in tumor board meetings and coordinate complex treatments such as bone marrow transplants.
• Prescribe and oversee chemotherapy and other cancer therapies, with support from nurse oncologists.
• Collaborate with a team of 7 physicians and 6 advanced practice providers to deliver comprehensive patient-centered care.
• Utilize the EPIC electronic medical record system to document and coordinate patient management.

What we're looking for:

• Proven experience in medical oncology, with strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Current medical license to practice in South Carolina or eligible for licensure.
• Experience with chemotherapy administration, tumor board participation, and complex cancer management.

Nice to have skills:

• Experience with blood bank procedures and management of bone marrow transplant patients.
• Prior work in outpatient and inpatient oncology settings.
• Familiarity with the EPIC EMR system.

Preferred education and experience:

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in medical oncology.
• At least 2 years of clinical experience in oncology.
• Experience working in a hospital-based outpatient and inpatient oncology setting preferred.

Other important details:

• Estimated credentialing timeframe: approximately 60 days.
• No call during the locum period; call expected if the position is placed permanently—typically 1 week every 6-8 weeks.
• The practice is based at a free-standing cancer center serving adult and geriatric populations.
• Facility covers travel expenses including flight, hotel, rental car, and mileage at IRS standard rates.
• Position starts on 04/28/2026, with an hourly pay rate of $19.50.
• Reimbursement for licensure, certification, travel, and other authorized expenses.
