Lecturer Position Summary: The Department of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a one-year instructional academic staff, Lecturer, position to teach general chemistry lectures and laboratories . This is a full-time, nine-month, benefits eligible position starting in August of 2026. Key Job Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach a full time load (up to 18 contact hours accounting for 27-30 EMS Dean's Points) of general chemistry lectures and laboratories. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: To be considered for this position, applicants must respond to all required qualifications.
The Chemistry Department currently consists of 9 tenured/tenure-track faculty, 3 instructional academic staff, and 2 lab technicians. The Department offers BS degrees in Chemistry that include program emphases certified by the American Chemical Society (ACS). Available degree emphases include a standard track, Biochemistry, Criminalistics, and Criminalistics with a DNA focus. The Criminalistics Emphases are unique undergraduate programs in the State. The Department also offers a Chemistry Minor and a 2-year Pre-Pharmacy Program. The Department has approximately 80 majors and graduates 12 to 15 students per year. Faculty within the program work closely with students and provide several opportunities for undergraduate research. The College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (EMS) enrolls approximately 2,500 students in ABET-accredited BS degree programs in Civil, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial Systems, Mechanical, Software Engineering, and Engineering Physics , as well as BS degrees in Mathematics, Data Science, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Sustainable and Renewable Energy Systems. The College of EMS also participates in a statewide Collaborative Engineering Program that allows place-bound undergraduate students to complete their BS degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering with minimal travel. In addition, the College has an online Master of Engineering program, which has been designated as a "Best Buy" in online education. The College of EMS's values are provided below:

- M.S. in Chemistry or closely related field with substantial experience in teaching chemistry.
- One semester of experience effectively teaching general chemistry lecture or laboratory.
- Proficient in oral and written communications in English and have skills needed to work with Microsoft Office.
- Two years of experience effectively teach university-level general chemistry lecture or laboratory.
- Excel in oral and written communications in English and have skills needed to work with Microsoft Office.
- Extensive experience with Canvas or similar learning management system.
