Grads on Career Track- Mission Critical Technology Solutions

Summary Metrolink seeks an enthusiastic and driven individual with an interest in trains and network control operations to join the Grads on Career Track (GOCT) program. The GOCT‑Mission‑Critical Technology Solutions role will assist with technology projects, system assessments, and research activities across a variety of technology environments. This position provides an opportunity to gain hands‑on experience supporting mission‑critical technology solutions that enable the safe, efficient, and reliable movement of trains. Program Features Mentoring: Work with a mentor to receive career development advice, support, and coaching. Meaningful projects: Apply knowledge and skills by participating in high‑profile projects. Core competency training: Receive customized training that teaches essential core competencies for success in any career or organization. External seminars/meetings: Grow professional network within the transportation industry. Program Term Grads on Career Track work 40 hours per week. After the initial six (6) months, GOCT participants receive a performance evaluation based on goals and core competencies. Employment can be extended for up to 24 months from the date of hire, depending on overall performance and operational business needs. What to Expect This is a competitive recruitment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with mission‑critical, safety, and security technology projects. Research and evaluate emerging technologies, including AI, automation, analytics, and digital transformation tools; prepare reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and project documentation. Track project activities, action items, risks, and deliverables. Use technology tools and software applications to maintain records, conduct research, and support department initiatives; present findings and recommendations to team members and stakeholders. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Education and Experience Recent graduate (within 24 months) from an accredited four‑year college or university with a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Creative problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Physical Requirements Transition between a stationary position at a desk and move throughout Metrolink facilities. Operate tools such as computers and office equipment. Transport equipment or boxes up to 25 lbs. Communicate ideas verbally. Visual acuity to detect and identify employees or train movement and barriers to movement when working on or near railroad tracks. Listen for sounds when working on or near railroad tracks. Balance, ascend/descend, climb, kneel, stoop, bend, crouch, or crawl within assigned working conditions. Working Conditions Position requires work in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, or temperature. Work may also occur in outdoor environments, construction sites, railroad track and right‑of‑way environments, and warehouse settings, with possible exposure to hostile or irate individuals, moving mechanical parts, and loud noises (85+ decibels).
