Summary Description: This key position is responsible for providing quality customer service and meals to residents, patients, visitors, and staff for Sublette County Health dietary services. The areas of influence would include but are not limited to Main dining hall, Skilled Nursing dining hall, serveries, patient meals, and catering. Supervision Received: Reports directly to Nutritional Services Director. Responsibilities:
- Work with other staff members to provide quality food services to patients, residents, guests, and the public.
- Read menus, recipes, and review all necessary steps in meal preparation with the Nutritional Services Director.
- Must be able to read and follow specific therapeutic diet information and mechanically altered diet requirements and integrate this information into appropriate menus and recipes.
- Serve food, following portion control standards; directs the delivery of food trays or snacks to rooms maintaining food safety standards.
- Good understanding of proper food preparation, sanitation, and handling techniques. Follows the infection control techniques and proper use of Dietary protective equipment.
- Assist in purchasing food, ordering, and restocking kitchen. Inventory supplies, compiles orders to meet weekly menu needs.
- Maintains equipment in a clean and orderly manner.
- Identifies and reports any unsafe/unsanitary conditions to supervisor.
- Supervise dietary personnel in the absence of the Nutritional Services Director.
- Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Demonstrates responsibility for knowing and adhering to all District and departmental policies and procedures.
- Understands the importance of patient confidentiality and HIPM rules and regulations.
- Other Duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of commercial food preparation and nutrition experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety procedures preferred.
- Self-motivated, organized, able to multi-task with extreme attention to detail.
- Knowledge of cooking and food preparation including safety and sanitation.
- Knowledge and skill to operate commercial kitchen equipment.
- Proficiency with e-mails, spreadsheets, and word processing.
- The ability to coordinate, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines.
- Subject to varying situations including ability to understand and respond appropriately, effectively, and sensitively to special population groups, including those defined by race, ethnicity, language, age, sex, sexual orientation, economic standing, etc.
- Frequent contact with a variety of people including prisoners and people with mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.
- Medical office, exam room, laboratory, radiology, emergency room and professional practice settings. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to rural clinic environments.
- The work environment involves exposure to unusual elements, potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
