About the Position

Job Title: RN II - Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 hours Experience: One year in acute care required License: Current RN license in state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required within 6 months of hire Must-Have: Experience in emergency nursing, BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications, and trauma nursing core course compliance Description: Providing nursing care, including triage, treatment, and discharge care for patients in the emergency department. Care provided spans from newborns to geriatrics. Completes accurate triage assessments on all patients and notifies the MD of abnormal signs, symptoms, and vital signs consistently. Reviews and completes patient orders in a timely manner. Provides medication side effect education to all patients receiving medication and incorporates this teaching into discharge instructions. Recognizes cardiac or respiratory distress symptoms and other impending emergencies consistently. Implements appropriate nursing interventions in both stable and emergent patient scenarios. Is competent in routine nursing skills including medication administration, intravenous therapy, care and maintenance of indwelling catheters and drains, and safe use of critical care medical equipment. Understands and follows the chain of command according to policy. Accurately interprets ECG rhythms and manages care during life-threatening emergencies across all served populations. Demonstrates knowledge of lead functions and applications, with the ability to recommend best monitoring based on patient presentations. Exhibits appropriate knowledge and skill in providing care during Code Blue, Code Stroke, Sepsis, and Trauma Activations. Completes legible, accurate, and timely documentation of all nursing care provided, including evaluation of patient responses to medications, treatments, and procedures. Consistently performs necessary unit-specific safety and quality control checks. Facilitates safe and timely coordination and collaboration with inpatient units during patient admissions. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
