The Role McKnight International is seeking a Senior Cost Estimator to support aviation infrastructure projects at Tampa International Airport. This role is responsible for leading the development of detailed and conceptual cost estimates across a range of capital improvement initiatives. The position works closely with project managers, engineers, and client stakeholders to ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting, and cost control throughout the project lifecycle. This is a full-time position with McKnight International. The individual hired will represent McKnight International while supporting project and program delivery efforts for the client. This position is primarily on-site at Tampa International Airport. While limited flexibility may be available based on project needs, consistent on-site presence is required. Requirements Leadership Scope Provide direction and oversight for estimating deliverables and timelines Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align cost strategies with project goals Participate in internal and client meetings to review budgets, risks, and cost performance Support continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and methodologies Essential Job Functions Prepare detailed and conceptual cost estimates for aviation infrastructure projects Review drawings, specifications, and technical documents to define full project scope Perform quantity takeoffs and develop comprehensive cost breakdowns Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align estimates Analyze subcontractor and supplier bids for accuracy and competitiveness Support bid proposals, change orders, and budget forecasts Conduct cost risk analysis and recommend appropriate contingencies Maintain and update cost databases, benchmarks, and historical pricing Participate in value engineering efforts to optimize cost efficiency Present cost estimates, reports, and financial insights to stakeholders Support ongoing cost tracking and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle Perform additional estimating and project-related duties as assigned Supplemental Functions Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal teams Apply technical expertise to resolve cost and scope-related challenges Support procurement processes and contract-related activities Contribute to strategic planning and program-level cost analysis Qualifications 15+ years of construction cost estimating experience Proven experience supporting airport or aviation infrastructure projects required Strong background in civil and/or structural construction estimating Advanced proficiency in cost estimating tools such as RSMeans, CostX, Bluebeam, or similar Expertise in quantity takeoffs, cost modeling, and budget development Strong understanding of construction methodologies and market pricing trends Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills Ability to operate effectively in a client-facing, on-site environment Certifications & Education CCP (Certified Cost Professional – AACE) preferred CCM (Certified Construction Manager) preferred PE (Professional Engineer) preferred Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field required Equivalent education and experience may be considered Physical, Schedule & Eligibility Requirements Full-time position; on-site at Tampa International Airport a minimum of 4 days per week Must be located in or willing to relocate to the Tampa, FL area Authorization to work in the United States is required Ability to pass airport background checks and security clearances Ability to navigate active construction sites and comply with required safety protocols Reliable transportation required; commuting expenses not reimbursed Annual base salary range: $120,000 to $165,000, based on experience and project requirements; compensation complies with applicable pay equity laws This role is bench-marked against senior-level cost estimators in the Tampa market and reflects the specialized nature of aviation infrastructure projects and a client-facing, on-site environment. Candidates with highly relevant experience in airport capital programs, civil and structural estimating, or large-scale infrastructure projects may be considered toward the upper end of the range.
