ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

The ICU Float Pool seeks a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse to deliver comprehensive care in a fast-paced environment. This position requires proficiency in handling high-acuity patients and the capability to float across various ICU and MedSurg/Tele units.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the ICU Float Pool across multiple locations.
• Float among all ICU areas and MedSurg/Tele units, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
• Work within a collaborative team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in clinical assessments, patient monitoring, and medication administration.
• Complete assigned administrative tasks and documentation accurately and timely.
• Engage in ongoing education and skills assessments to maintain competency in critical nursing skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU, preferably in a Level 1 trauma center or teaching hospital.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS; NIHSS preferred.
• Strong understanding of care for medical, surgical, and trauma patients.
• Ability to function independently when floated to different units.
• Experience with performing critical nursing skills, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
• Competency in reading telemetry strips and managing critical drips.

Shift Information

• 12-hour day shifts, with a requirement of four weekend shifts every four weeks.
• Holidays as needed based on unit coverage.
• Each shift begins at 7:00 AM and ends at 7:30 PM. Schedules are planned four weeks in advance.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam with a passing score of 80% prior to contract initiation.
• All ICU RNs are required to complete a pass/fail SIMs Lab for critical nursing skills.
• Initial orientation includes two shifts, with a possible third shift as needed.
• Mandatory participation in bedside reporting and quality assessments during shifts.
