RN Medical-Surgical Emergency Department

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Med Surge/ED Night position is responsible for delivering skilled nursing care to patients, with a focus on spine and orthopedic post-operative care as well as medical/surgical patients. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. The nurse must maintain compliance with state licensure and certification requirements and work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to medical/surgical and post-operative spine/orthopedic patients.
• Perform patient assessments and monitor patient conditions.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
• Respond to patient needs and emergencies during night shifts.
• Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and safety standards.
• Participate in continuous education and certification renewals as required.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current, unrestricted Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC (all current).
• Minimum of 4 years nursing experience, including spine/orthopedic post-operative patient care and medical/surgical experience.
• Ability to manage a patient ratio of 1 to 5 effectively.
• Compliance with state-mandated COVID-19 vaccination requirements.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working night shifts in Med/Surg or Emergency Department settings.
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Previous experience in fast-paced hospital environments.

Special Considerations:

• No holiday requests off; must work holidays as scheduled.
• Strict no pets and no smoking policy in provided housing.
• Possibility of shared 2-bedroom/2-bath apartment housing provided.

Scheduling:

• Night shift schedule in Med Surge/ED department.
• Shift assignments include working holidays without exceptions.
