About the Role As the Shipping Manager, you will lead our shipping department (managing a team of 4-8 personnel) and oversee the accurate, cost-effective, and timely distribution of high-volume daily publication shipments. You will work closely with production, customer service, and sales to keep operations moving seamlessly. Key Responsibilities

• Logistics & Carrier Management: Coordinate with freight carriers, negotiate rates, track daily jobs, and resolve routing/delivery delays.
• Team Leadership: Lead, schedule, train, and manage a team of 4-8 shipping personnel while maintaining safety (OSHA) standards.
• Equipment & Production Oversight: Oversee the daily operations of our Sitma and Buhrs polybagging mailing machines, ensure quality control, and handle shipping equipment maintenance.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales and CSRs to estimate costs, build distribution strategies, and communicate shipment statuses.
• Metrics & Process Improvement: Track key metrics (on-time delivery, cost per piece, error rates) and continuously implement efficiency improvements.
• Compliance & Records: Ensure adherence to freight/DOT regulations, maintain postage and shipping records, and manage relationships with postal representatives.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in shipping, freight logistics, and team leadership.
• Hands-on experience with mailing/polybagging equipment (Sitma/Buhrs experience is a major plus).
• Familiarity with DOT, freight, and OSHA safety regulations.
• strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
