Metal Fabricator

Talascend is currently seeking a Fabricator I (Metal) for a contract opportunity located in Livonia, MI. This role supports garage shop services teams by cutting, shaping, and welding metal components. The ideal candidate will use various tools and welding techniques while receiving mentorship from experienced team members on both project tasks and customer interactions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Weld instrumentation, exhaust tubes, and bosses to precise specifications. Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning and removing impurities such as rust, grease, and moisture using sanding disks and wire brushes. Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment in vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions. Maintain shop equipment through routine troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair coordination. Support daily shop organization, safety protocols, and clean-up efforts. Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. No prior professional experience required. Preferred Education and Experience: Certificate in Welding Technology or a related field. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Basic ability to perform Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) and/or Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding. Knowledge of safe operation of Plasma cutters and Oxy-Fuel torches . Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills. Must own personal tools and a rolling toolbox. We thank all applicants for their interest.
