Position Summary:

The Youth Program Teacher is responsible for providing educational, emotional, and social support to children and teens ages 518 enrolled in L.I.F.T. Academy. This role involves planning and leading engaging academic enrichment, character-building, and group mentoring activities in a safe, structured, and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities based on assigned age groups.
• Facilitate academic support, including homework help, literacy development, and creative learning.
• Lead group discussions and structured mentoring focused on life skills, conflict resolution, and positive behavior.
• Monitor student progress, behavior, and engagement; communicate concerns to supervisors or guardians as needed.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all participants.
• Collaborate with other staff to organize group outings, events, and enrichment experiences.
• Support data collection, attendance tracking, and reporting for program evaluation.
• Maintain professional, respectful relationships with youth, families, and colleagues.
• Uphold and model L.I.F.T. Academys mission, values, and behavior expectations.
• Submit weekly lesson plans every Friday before the end of the shift for the upcoming week.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required, associate or bachelors degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related field preferred (not required)
• Experience working with youth in a classroom, camp, afterschool, or mentoring setting.
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
• Ability to relate to and engage with children and teens from diverse backgrounds.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Must pass criminal background and child abuse registry checks.

Hours vary based on program needs (typically after-school hours and occasional weekends).
