Job Title: Coach Beyond Senior Program Manager Department: Social Work | Faculty Affairs The Coach Beyond Program Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations, coordination, implementation, and longer-term strategic management of statewide and national Coach Beyond initiatives within the LiFEsports, a center within The Ohio State University College of Social Work. Coach Beyond is a sport-based positive youth development and mental health initiative designed to build the capacity of coaches, athletic leaders, schools, and communities to promote positive youth development (PYD), mental health, leadership, and supportive sport climates for student-athletes. This position will support multi-year grant-funded projects involving the design, development, implementation, scaling, and evaluation of in-person, virtual, and asynchronous coach trainings and student-athlete leadership programming. The Program Manager will coordinate implementation efforts across school districts, athletic departments, state and national partners, and community organizations while supporting broader systems-change initiatives related to coaching standards, certification, and youth sport best practices. The Program Manager will serve as a key liaison among partners including the Ohio High School Athletic Association, school districts across Ohio and nationally, funders such as Susan Crown Exchange, national learning networks, and other stakeholders invested in youth development, mental health promotion, and sport-based systems change. This role will support all aspects of project management, including development of timelines and implementation plans, coordination of meetings and statewide convenings, curriculum and resource development, communication management, logistical coordination, training facilitation, and monitoring of grant deliverables and reporting requirements. The Program Manager also will assist with research and evaluation efforts associated with annual coaching needs assessments, formative and outcome evaluations, implementation monitoring, and systems-level efforts designed to embed mental health, and PYD competencies into statewide coaching licensure and certification structures. In addition, this position will support broader operational and development activities within LiFEsports, including event planning and coordination, stakeholder engagement, fundraising support activities, and logistical management of internal and external events related to research, training, teaching, and community engagement initiatives. Responsibilities may include coordinating statewide conferences, webinars, fundraising events, training convenings, travel and lodging arrangements, registration systems, vendor coordination, facilities planning, and communication efforts. This position requires strong organizational, communication, relationship-building, and project management skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively across interdisciplinary teams and external partnerships. Evening and weekend availability, as well as in-state travel, are required. The duration of this position is contingent upon performance and the continuation of external funding. Duties and Responsibilities Manage Grant Deliverables and Program Operations (25%) Oversee day-to-day operations and implementation activities associated with Coach Beyond grants and initiatives. Develop project timelines, implementation plans, agendas, meeting notes, and action steps. Coordinate communication and collaboration among internal staff, school districts, athletic departments, state and national partners, and funders. Monitor project deliverables, timelines, reporting requirements, and implementation benchmarks. Support statewide and national strategic planning and systems-change initiatives related to coaching education and youth sport environments. Develop quotes and invoices for school-based contracts, track payment, and work collaboratively with College of Social Work business office to manage program expenses. Coordinate Design, Development, and Implementation of Coaching Trainings and Student-Athlete Programming (50%) Coordinate development, testing, refinement, and implementation of evidence-informed coaching trainings and Life and Leadership student-athlete programming. Facilitate in-person and virtual trainings with coaches, student-athletes, school leaders, and community organizations across Ohio and nationally. Assist with development of curriculum materials, videos, case studies, implementation resources, and training content highlighting best practices in coaching and youth sport settings. Coordinate training logistics, scheduling, participant communication, registration processes, continuing education requirements, and training materials. Support statewide and national dissemination efforts and scaling strategies for Coach Beyond initiatives. Assist with Evaluation, Needs Assessments, and Systems-Change Initiatives (10%) Support annual coaching needs assessments, data collection activities, and formative evaluation processes. Assist with monitoring outputs, assessing implementation impact, and supporting continuous quality improvement efforts. Support licensure, certification, and systems-level audit efforts designed to embed SEL, PYD, and mental health competencies into statewide coaching education and certification structures. Assist with data organization, reporting, and dissemination activities associated with Coach Beyond research and evaluation efforts. Support Development Activities and Event Coordination (15%) Provide logistical and administrative support for development activities, annual giving campaigns, stakeholder engagement efforts, and gift tracking. Coordinate internal and external events related to fundraising, training, research dissemination, and community engagement. Organize advisory council meetings, statewide convenings, webinars, conferences, and related events. Manage event logistics including scheduling, vendor coordination, contracts, facilities, transportation, parking, audiovisual needs, lodging, registration systems, and communication processes. Coordinate travel and logistical arrangements for presenters, trainers, consultants, and external partners. Evening and weekend availability required. In-state travel required; candidate must possess reliable transportation. If utilizing personal vehicle, must have valid driver's license and insurance. In-state travel is required up to 60% of the time. This includes multi-day trips across Ohio to conduct Coach Beyond trainings, meet with partner school districts, or attend statewide conferences. Occasional overnight stays are expected. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 4 years of relevant experience required. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred. Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in sport management, social work, education, psychology, public health, kinesiology, human sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Five to seven years of relevant experience in coaching, sport management, education, youth development, mental health promotion, training coordination, project management, and/or community-based programming required. Demonstrated experience coordinating projects and working collaboratively across organizations and interdisciplinary teams. Strong organizational skills, initiative, creativity, and ability to manage multiple competing priorities independently required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and virtual communication platforms required. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and solutions-focused, with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience working with schools, coaches, athletic departments, youth-serving organizations, and/or statewide initiatives strongly preferred. Experience with positive youth development, social-emotional learning, mental health promotion, implementation science, evaluation, training facilitation, event coordination, and grant-funded initiatives preferred. Target Hiring Range The target hiring range for this position is $58,700 to $77,200 annually, commensurate with experience, internal equity, and available funding. This is a term position contingent upon the ongoing availability of external funding.
