Accounting Controller

Description STG Construction is the shared-services company behind a family of specialty-contractor businesses. We provide accounting, IT, HR, safety, and logistics support to four sister companies operating across electrical, communications/cell towers, underground, and fiber construction. The Role We're hiring an Accounting Controller to own our financial reporting and lead our accounting team. This is a true controller role focused on producing accurate and timely financial statements and on building a team that runs well and takes ownership. You'll report to the CFO, who will partner with you closely on the specifics of our business and our systems. This is a hands-on leadership seat. You'll own the monthly close and the consolidated financial statements, and you'll lead a team of assistant controllers along with our AP and AR staff — reviewing their work, developing their skills, and being the person they come to when they need assistance. What You'll Do Own the monthly close and produce accurate, timely consolidated financial statements across multiple entities. Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team — assistant controllers, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Review business-unit financial statements prepared by assistant controllers for accuracy and completeness. Perform multi-entity consolidation and maintain general ledger integrity and internal controls. Provide day-to-day guidance and support to the AP and AR functions. Ensure construction-specific accounting is handled correctly: WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, job costing, AIA billing, certified payroll, and vendor/lien compliance. Partner with the CFO to continuously improve close processes, reporting, and the team's capabilities. What We're Looking For We can teach you our business, our entity structure, and our systems.
