PositionSummary:

The Ruth and Nathan Hale Theaterisseekingenthusiastic and reliable Deck Crew members to join our production team. The DeckCrewis responsible forthe safe and efficient movement of scenery, props, and other stage elements during rehearsals and performances. This role requires a strong understanding of backstage operations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively to ensure the smooth execution of each production.

Duties andResponsibilities:

• During the show:

• Work closely with the Stage Manager, Deck lead, andfellowcrew members to ensure asafe, efficient, andsmooth performance, both onstage and backstage.

• Execute all assigned backstage tracks and responsibilities as written and rehearsed.

• Perform scene changes quickly, quietly, and accurately while following the Stage Managers cues.

• Maintain, track, andassistwith the upkeep, organization, and appearance of all props through the production process.

• Ensure all scenery, props, and stage elements arepreset before each performance and returned to their designated spots following the show.

• Assistwith the setup, operation, and strike of scenery, stage equipment, and backstage workspaces for rehearsals and performances.

• Conduct regular safety checks of the stage, moving scenery, fly system, and backstage areas before and duringperformances.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free onstage and backstage environment.

• Follow,maintain, and update all run paperwork, tracking sheets, checklists, and otherproductiondocuments as needed.

• Communicate effectively with other crew members to coordinate scene changes and other backstage activities.

• Communicate clearly and professionally with the Stage Manager, board operators,cast members, and fellowcrew members to ensure a safe, smooth performance.

• Remain attentive, performance ready, and in the assigned positions throughout the duration of the show.

• Assistactors with any needs that come up throughout the production process.

• Other duties as assigned

• Fly SystemOperation:

• Safelyoperatethe theater's fly system to move scenery,curtains,lighting,and other stage elements during performances.

• Executeallfly cues accurately and consistentlywith the Stage Managers cues.

• Perform pre-show inspectionof fly lines.

• Follow alltheatresafety protocols and procedures whenoperatingtheflysystem.

• Rehearsalsand Technical Support:

• Attend all technical rehearsalsand provide support for the setup and adjustment of stage elements.

• Assistwith troubleshooting and resolving technical issues that arise during rehearsals and performances.

• Participate in load ins, load outs, and theatre resets as scheduled.

• Assistother departments whenappropriate whilemaintainingyour assigned responsibilities.

• Safety andProfessionalism:

• Adhere toall safety polies whenoperatingstage equipment, moving scenery, andworkingbackstage.

• Ensure all stage operationscomply withindustry safety standards and regulations.

• Follow all safety proceduresregardingautomation, moving scenery, rigging, and the fly system.

• Wearappropriate blackbackstage attire and close toed shoes during allperformances.

• Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and a positive attitude whilerepresentingthe company.

• AttendanceRequirements:

• Must be available to work aminimumof 4-5 performances per week.

• Attendance isrequiredfor all tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, andassignedperformancesunlessexcused from Deck Supervisor.

• Arrive on time andpreparedfor rehearsal, tech, and performances.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Education Requirements:Nonerequired.

• Experiencein Job Type:Previousexperience in stage crew or technical theater roles preferred.

• Skills Required:

• Familiarity with fly systems and stage rigging techniques.

• Strong understanding of backstage operations and stagecraft.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and irregular hours as required by production schedules.

• Physical ability to lift and move heavy stage equipment and work at heights.

• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
