Description:
Sign Language Interpreter . This is a FTE 0.4 Part-time position. Translates via sign language the information and communication that occurs around the hearing impaired student in multiple settings across the school day. Position start date: August 2026. Job Summary:
- The qualified candidate will have a passing score for the state certification.
- Must be proficient in English, in both written and spoken form.
- Listen to a speaker's words, inflection and intent and simultaneously interpret them into signs using the preferred communication mode of the student with a hearing impairment.
- Must be able to comprehend sign, inflections and intent of the student and simultaneously speak them in articulate, appropriate English.
- Facilitate communication between hearing individuals and the student with hearing loss.
- Prompt, cue and redirect students to remain on task
- Participate in the administration of classroom, district and state assessments.
- Observe student behaviors and performance and communicate student performance to teacher and support staff.
- Support a safe atmosphere conducive to a positive learning environment. Act as role model on appropriate behaviors ensuring social and emotional development is progressing normally.
- Enforce and support school policies, philosophies and objectives with students and parents.
- Collaborate with other staff in planning, modifying, enhancing and implementing curriculum and school objectives.
